Tensai30 :
My temps are rather high as well on the auros xtreme. I just set a custom fan curve to reduce throttling. This is the first card I'm actually considering watercooling.
Yes, this is really annoying.
I suspect that the low temps reviewers like Guru3d are reporting are like that because they are testing those cards with open case make-shift pcs - like basically a motherboard ontop a desk with no doors or walls, and probably in a cold country during cold weather.
It's crazy how much turning on the AC in the room affects card temps. Sometimes 5-10c difference.
I currently don't have my air conditioning unit in my gaming room where my PC is located because mine got dead and I am replacing it soon. It's funny, I actually play some games on the big TV screen - which is located in an entirely separated room - across the wall and on the far end of the room. So during the summer - I actually have 2 AC units working - one for me in my TV living/gaming room - and one inside my PC gaming room - even though no living person is sitting there. So basically I care about my PC so much that I turn on AC for it on 23-24c and COLD mode to give it nice cool temps. lol.
But it's kinda disappointing that the Aorus 1080 Ti Xtreme is so freaking hot. Especially with a 3.0 slot (or 2.5slot not sure) sized cooler, that was boasted as basically the best cooler for 1080 Ti's.
Although it could also be that 1080 Ti cards are just freaking hot in general. I tried applying custom fan curve in MSI AB - but it wouldn't change it much, so I don't see the point. It's weird.
I used to have 2 GTX 980 G1 Gaming in SLI - and played at 1440p and they hardly ever crossed the 71-72c at maximum load. Even though they take more space, make more heat, draw more power and reduce the airflow. It doesn't make sense. I was expecting cooler temps than my GTX 980s SLI...
moving to a single card setup with less power.
Honestly - I never knew the card will take THAT MUCH SPACE in my case too..
