I am planning to upgrade my old PC with a new graphics card (either 1070 or 1080). I can only upgrade one thing at a time really so I decided to buy a graphics card because that's mainly important for gaming. I know there's going to be a big bottleneck but other than that will I have any other problems (e.g. overheating, incompatibility and etc).

Thanks

PC specs:
Amd Athlon x4 760k
GTX 750 (to be upgraded to 1080)
Gigabyte f2a78m-hd2 motherboard
8gb ddr3 ram
1tb hard drive

Solution
Not many problems besides the bottleneck, except for the fact that your motherboard only has PCI-e Revision 2.0, which will have a lower bandwidth than optimal.

I suggest that you save your money now and upgrade your CPU and mobo first before buying the 1080.
Plus what resolution do you game at?
The RX 480 is a pretty decent GPU for 1080p .
