Shadow456 :
Thanks for the reply. My question about was that the case supports USB 3.0 only whereas the motherboard has two USB 3.0 and two USB 3.1 ports. Can I use the USB 3.1 ports as well? Is the 3.1 ports comparable with the case?
I'm new to all this so please help me.
You might be confusing USB
ports and USB
headers. 1x USB header usually supports up to 2x USB ports.
The Asus B350-Plus has a total of 8x USB
ports at the
rear panel. These 8x USB ports are: 2x USB 2.0, 4x USB 3.0, and 2x USB 3.1 (all Type-A rectangular ports). You can use these 8x USB ports as you please by just plugging in any USB component (such as a keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.).
Now, the USB
headers in the Asus B350-Plus is found at mid-board (internal on the board inside your case; not outside). The motherboard has 1x internal USB3.0 header and 2x internal USB2.0 headers. Such headers are male pins sticking out the motherboard. Your case's front panel USB ports would have a female cable that would connect to these internal USB headers --
2 USB ports ===> 1 USB header.
So, on the Stormtrooper case, you will connect the 2x USB3.0 ports (single cable) from the case's front panel to the 1x USB3.0 internal header on your motherboard. Similarly, you will also connect the 2x USB2.0 ports (single cable) from the case's front panel to one of the two USB2.0 internal header on your motherboard.
In short, the motherboard's USB3.1 ports at the rear panel has nothing to do with your case's front panel USB ports.
You can use all 8x USB ports at the rear panel right away, and you can use all 4x USB ports at the front panel of your case as long as you connect the included cables on the USB headers of your motherboard. All in all, that's 12x USB ports.
