Asus Maximus Vi Hero not working

So I was doing my first sorta build and something has gone wrong, my friend who has build many pc's is here helping me. I had a prebuild normal pc and am keeping only the ram, hard drive, and CPU from it and I bought a new case, motherboard, gpu, power supply. The only problem is that when everything is plugged in correctly and we turn on the power supply the motherboard doesn't light up or anything, nothing happens. Did i get a faulty one or something?

Well the problem was that the lights on the motherboard wouldn't even turn on. But i was dinking around with it just now and I got the light to turn on, idk if he had something plugged in wrong but now i need to figure out how to put everything together

Now i ran into the issue that the motherboard Start and reset buttons are lit but nothing powers up help
