Issue: This issue is quite inconsistent but normally happens when i shut off my computer or put it to sleep. What happens is that when I try to power up the computer after it shuts off nothing will happen and holding in the power button will cause a blue led on the mobo to start flashing near (jbat1) which is supposed to indicate clearing cmos. I checked for the jumper but there isn't one on the jumper pins so I have no idea what is wrong. I also left my pc unplugged for 24 hours and it booted back up but this issue still occurs again.

Build:
i7 4790k 4Ghz
msi gtx980
msi gaming 5 z97 mobo
seasonic g-650
CM nepton 240m cooler

Any help is appreciated.

Go by a computer shop and ask them if you can have a tiny bag of jumpers.

Look at this here make sure you know what your doing when you place and unplace the jumpers on the mobo.
Its risky business but take a small paper clip, lightly touch the pin, power on the machine and see if it will kick on.
If so quickly go to the bios setup...

If so quickly go to the bios setup screen and see if it mentions anything about an error holding in the information it stores.

I've had that problems in the past and usually the problem will point right back at the mobo having issues especially if its from msi.
