What do you think of this Ryzen 7 based build?

Hi Friends,
I will be soon building a gaming PC for myself.
Here's the build that I am thinking about for around USD 1200. I stay in Mexico, so most of the parts will be imported from US (Amazon).

CPU: Ryzen 1700
Motherboard :Asus x370 prime
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 2*8 3000MHz
GPU: Asus Strix Rx 480 or perhaps 580 if it's reviews turn out to be good enough.
PSU: EVGA Supernova 550 G3 Modular
Disk Drive: MyDigitalBPX 240 M.2 SSD (I already have a secondary hard drive - 750GB)
Case: Corsair carbide series spec 02 case

I would be playing games at full hd (mostly games like XCOM, Total War, cities skylines and sometimes RPG like witcher 3). I am not into multiplayer gaming like BF, MW etc. I don't suppose I will buy a 1440p gaming monitor in near future because it's damn expensive. I may buy a 4K TV (not gaming monitor) for my home after 3 years which I can use it for PC as well.

Apart from that I will be using this PC as a complete entertainment system (movies, tv series, playing soccer with my friends etc.)

I don't wish to upgrade my PC for next 5 years. I don't suppose this config would be obsolete in 5 years.

Is this build an overkill for my requirements? Would Ryzen 5 be sufficient?

I would appreciate your comments on this. I haven't purchased the build yet. Just finalizing the build before I start making piece by piece purchase over a months time.

Or shall I buy PS 4 Pro?
That ofcourse will not allow me play the kind of games that I play.

I would change it a bit, rather get the 1600, it's a 6 core 12 threads and will be more than enough for the coming years, also I would get a b350 motherboard, it will also allow you to OC the cpu if necessary and is cheaper. You could use the saved money on the motherboard and cpu to get a gtx 1070 instead of rx480. :)

R5 1600+ gtx 1070>R7 1700+rx 480. :)

piece by piece over a month? pc component prices change quite fast. zen7 prices may be lower later....kabylake may be better buy later than a zen.....for us to point out and say "yes all those comp[onents will be fine" next month, would be foolish. i hear ddr4 prices are gonna skyrocket soon and there is a 480 on sale right now for 150$

Faster RAM... 3200 minimum. In a year+ you will have the option to upgrade the CPU to a Ryzen 2, perhaps. Also agree to get a GTX1070 over the 1060. And, if you are not in a hurry, wait to see the Vega launch and how they spec out against Nvidia. You might find a better deal with Vega OR you might see GTX prices drop a bit due to the Vega release.
