Hi All,
Recently I upgraded my system to Intel from AMD. Below is my spec

Motherboard: GA-Z170-H3 DDR3
CPU: i7 7700K
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14

My case ambient temp is 38 Deg Celcius. and My processor is 40 Deg celcius all the time.

But when I run prime 95 or Time Spy CPU Test, the temp full load shoot up to 100 Deg Celcius. This is worry me.

I just overclocked to 4.8Ghz with stock voltage.

Please advice if this temp normal or something is wrong with my cooler?

Solution
Use prime95 smallfft version 26.6 and check temp with coretemp. BIOS up to date of the motherboard? Did you clear cmos after the update?

The problem could be the voltage and the way you overlocked. Stock just mean you letting the cpu get whatever voltage it request.
Reset everything to default.
If you don't know how to overclock look up detailed guides an understand what settings you're changing does.
Here one example:

You need to understand the usage of manual mode, adaptive/offset mode and Auto mode for cpu voltage.
You shouldn't use Auto mode when you decide to overclock your cpu.

Ok. Let me set it to fix value instead of auto. I will check the temperature. Thanks for your advice.

Just cleared CMOS but situation still same. I am wondering if I installed properly with my CPU cooler or not... If someone using NH-D14 or NH-D15, please share me the temp with Prime95 and also the case temp. thanks.

I think the latest Prime95 is not so good to do burn test. It causing CPU too hot and it is not realistic in our daily use. I will go for other tool to do stress test like OCCT, Realbench or Aida64.

Also I believe my cooler has no problem but CPU itself Intel using cheap solution thermal compound between IHS and CPU die. Even I buy very good cooler will not help.

Thanks for all your reply that I should set the Vcore value instead of adaptive vcore. Yes it does help to stable the temperature.
