So I have had this mouse for at least two years and I got extremely mad and slammed it on the desk and immediately I noticed that it wasn't working very well. It did move left to right, but if I tried to move it fast left to right it would glitch out and not move much. It works perfectly when it isn't on the mouse pad but I have been using this mouse and mouse pad for ages, so did I break the sensor on the mouse when I hit it off the desk? I just don't understand why it works on the glossy desk, but not the pad..

Solution
Which pad are you using? Could it be that the pad has a crack or dent?

But it looks really like a crashed mouse sensor. Buy a new mouse.

If this is a mouse with a laser sensor, it may have trouble with the pad because the laser does not reflect back well enough for the damaged sensor to read. But, the glossy surface is allowing more of the light to reflect back up and be picked up by the sensor.

That the mouse still works is nice, but after being slammed around and showing that it has trouble functioning in certain circumstances, I would say its time to get a new mouse.
