1 long, 2 short beeps: GPU dead?

Hey all,

From one day to the next my system stopped working. Swapping out my GPU seemed to get it working again. However, the replacement is an old HD4350 which isn't exactly suitable for gaming these days. That's why I tried getting my system to boot with my (potentially defective) HD5790. The fan of the GPU is spinning and there is a flashing green light inside the GPU, however. By connecting a system speaker (I did not have on at the time), I found out it doesn't even get past POSTing. One long and two short beeps are heard. Googled it, and most sources tell me it's a GPU problem, some tell me it's a RAM problem.

Here's what I tried:

- Clear CMOS;
- Update BIOS;
- Switch the PCI power connectors;
- Switch the GPU to the second PCIe slot;
- Booting the system with 1 stick of RAM in each slot;
- Booting the system barebone (only CPU, 1 stick of RAM, and HD5790).

These are my specs:

MB: MSI P55-GD65
CPU: Intel Core i7-860
RAM: 4 x Ballistix BLS4G3D1609DS1S00
GPU: Club3D HD5970
PSU: Cooler Master GX-750

Hoping the card isn't fried because I don't have the cash to buy a new one. :D

Thanks,
Arjan

Solution
if your pc works fine without the video card plugged into it, then plug it in and it doesn't work.. logic dictate it is the video card that is the issue.
you could try it in a friend PC to see if it runs ? you can get a HD 7770 for like 50$ or HD 7870 for 70$ on eBay. so maybe its a hint its time to upgrade.
