Hi all.

Quick one. Looking for some good tutorial about overclocking my EVGA GTX 1060 SC 6gb.

Watched Jayz2Cents and few others...

I'm not sure when overclocking it, lets say ( to make it easier to understand what I'm talking about ); my core is 1000 and boost is 1200

If I was to overclock it from 1000 to 1300, does my boost scale with that, so its core 1300 and boost 1500 ? How does that boost work when overclocking?

I can't find anything about it anywhere...

Solution
Your core truly stays the same, boost happens when the power budget and cooling budget allow it. Which is, almost all of the time.
If you get a good chip, it will run more efficiently, and thus have more margin on both power and heat to boost up. Under the most extreme circumstances, your hypothetical card will run at only 1000(or possibly even less, if the temp or power usage exceeds what the bios allows).
And to answer your last post. Increasing your boost target is not at all worthless. All things being equal, if you can get 100mhz more out of your chip, and the base clock is 1ghz, then you'll get roughly 10% better performance(if your memory and the rest of the computer can keep it supplied with the appropriate data).
