What kind of things should I look for when shopping for a PCI-E wireless adapter?

I have an all metal case, I heard that can block out some of the signals from the adapter (https://www.amazon.com/NZXT-Tower-Computer-White-CA-S340W-W1/dp/B00NGMIBXC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1492554830&sr=8-2&keywords=s340+nzxt)

My MOBO's extra PCI-E slot is x1 (https://www.manualagent.com/gigabyte/ga-78lmt-usb3-rev-5-0/owners-manual/page-4)

I'm on Windows 10 Home 64bit

I'm sick of this $15 USB adapter that cuts out, cant handle 5Ghz and only receives 2Mb down out of the 80Mb i pay for. I used to have a Ethernet solution where you would plug in a box to the wall, plug an Ethernet cord to that box and plug the other side of the cord into your modem or gateway or whathaveyou, adn then plug the second box into your wall then run the cable to your MOBO but it always had inconsistencies like it wouldn't come on part of the time or not enought power from the all.

Anyways give me some recommendations on good cards. I have a couple inches of clearance from my GPU's cooler and my PC is about 10-15 Ft from my Router. I found this one, not sure if it will be good for what i'm describing. Yes, the adapters can be problematic especially the low end priced ones. However, overall quality is suffering with many such products irrespective of pricing.

Consider using a USB extension cable to move a USB wireless adapter up and away from the back of the case.

Or if a wireless PCI-E adapter you may be able to do the same with an extension cable for the antenna's.

Purchase recommendation: Purchase your network adapter from the same manufacturer as your router.

Will usually makes the adapter installation and configuration easier.

Also prevents "finger-pointing" between the two differing parties if something does not work.
