Can anyone recommend me an easy to use Linux Router distro that has easy to use QoS features for gaming, and has modern wifi card standard support (N and AC support)?

I was originally planning to use Pfsense for a home router due to the fact that it had a lot of advance features, and good QoS features... but it has abysmal Wifi card support, and basically everyone on their forums basically states that Pfsense isn't designed to and can't really handle Wifi on any reasonable scale.

For QoS features, and for it all to be self contained, and power savings. Not to mention off the shelf access points are more expensive than PC wifi cards.

You are looking to find a gateway device in which case you are stuck with an off the shelf white box with antennas. These simply dont have the level of control and configuration you are looking for. You either want something more than bog standard QOS that these devises offer or you need a proper firewall appliance and separate wifi. This can either be an AP or a retasked wifi router. You arent teally going to get both.

Your problem is you are rejecting the AP mostly on a cost comparison to a internal nic card. Does it really matter if you pay more for a AP or you pay more for some premade box where someone just found a way to stuff the AP board inside the same case.

Be very careful there is not some magic thing called QoS that makes games go faster. You can not solve any issue outside your house, if your ISP has a poor path to the server or there is a overloaded connection QoS does nothing. Inside your house you need to get a agreement from other people on how much bandwidth they are allowed to use. QoS is purely a system that enforces that agreement you do not actually need it if everyone follows the agreement manually. When you do not share a internet connection you should not have any issue since you can make sure you do not do stupid stuff like run torrents when you want good game performance.
