Hi everyone,

I've been a victim of the Ryzen 5 bios issue, and already have bought and returned two motherboards before finding out about this issue. I want to buy another board, but i want to(have to) make sure it comes with the updated bios (i.e. if im buying off amazon or in a store). Any tips?

I've had exactly the same problem. Been through 2 boards and 2 CPUs. First board didn't claim to support R5 1600 from stock BIOS (Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming) so the second time around I made sure I got a board which had R5 1600 in the CPU support list for the stock BIOS so I opted for the MSI B350 Tomahawk but still got the same problem. Now I have to send it back to the retailer as they said they can flash the BIOS to the latest version for me.

So, I think your best bet is to ask the retailer wherever you buy the board from to update the BIOS for you as Paul NZ commented above. Either that or find someone with an R7 to update your BIOS for you. Very frustrating.

Did you buy it with the updated bios, or did you have to update the bios after purchasing?

Yea, i saw your thread on the same issue. Did you get your board back yet? How long did it expect to take?

I haven't sent it yet, I'm waiting for an email from them to notify me that they have raised an RMA. I don't think it would take that long once they receive the board.
