Hi,

A while ago - while rendering a video out using Sony Vegas I started an update for my Nvidia drivers and mid way through windows 10 crashed and from then on wouldn't boot. Not even into safe mode, and also it was not possible to repair it.

I then install windows 8 from a USB and this seemed to work initially except my graphics card was not showing as an nvidia card just as a Microsoft Basic Display adapter. Then when trying to install the drivers for my card windows crashed again and I had to reinstall.

This is perpetually happening and even happens when I attempted to install the drivers for my motherboard that came with the PC.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks for your help.

Graphics card and motherboard:

Nvidia GTX 770 2Gb
Asus Maximus VI Gene

updating GPU drivers while using it to render something else sounds like asking for trouble.

Can you see if GPU works in another PC? Generally if windows cannot recognise the card, its not a good sign.

If you just want to get windows onto PC again you might be best using the igpu - you can download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB, and fresh install it instead of 8 if you want.
