The type of VRAM your GPU uses and the type of RAM your DIMMs use don't have to be the same. DDR3 is older, slower and higher TDP. But, it will still work pretty well with a newer gen GPU. However, to answer your question, I'd go with the R7 250. 2GBs of DDR3. :)
