A few months ago i updated my MSI Z97 gaming 3 BIOS to 2.A and since then my pc has gone dark every time i play certain games.

(when i updated my BIOS i was not aware that you should only update if you experience problems)

Now i fixed this problem by underclocking my GPU using Asus Gpu manager but i was wondering if going back to the previous BIOS could fix the problem.

Would downgrading my BIOS to 2.9 or older fix my problems or make them worse?

the bios can be updated as often as there is a new one to update to, so there shouldn't be a problem when you update bios, it is just a program that controls details of devices connected to the mainboard, temperatures, voltages, specific fixes for specific parts, that sort of stuff

usually on most bios you cannot downgrade version, you can try to but surely you will not be able to do it

if you have the older one or can download it, try that, i wouldn't risk it, it is more likely you screw up the mainboard

perhaps try with a newer one or consult directly with asus or msi on this very particular and weird case, the new bios could require just a tweak you don't know yet so try to downgrade bios might not be the solution you want

Thanks for the advice!
When i first got this problem i sent my pc back to the store but they just replaced the psu which didnt fix anything. I think i just have to live with a underclocked GPU until i can afford a GPU and Motherboard upgrade :)
