Hello,

I recently ordered a new computer from parts and asked the shop to assemble it together. Now I was told that during testing they could only make the RAM ran stable at 2666MHz as opposed to the 3000MHz spec.

Motherboard: ASUS STRIX Z270F GAMING
RAM: G.Skill 32GB (2x16GB) Trident Z, DDR4 3000MHz

G Skill lists the motherboard on its QVL of this particular RAM.

Has anyone else encountered similar issues with this particular motherboard or RAM? Is this problem common with RAM of this MHz? Would something like this qualify for RMA (on the RAM)?

++++

I understand that it is possible to tweak the memory or CPU mc voltages to help with this. But AFAIK that would break the warranty and I would not want to have the need to rig voltages just to run my computer at its default specs. If it is something common, then could try it as well I guess.

I was also told that this issue is more common when running 32GB RAM as opposed to eg 16GB but lowering amount of RAM is not an option for me.

Thanks a lot

ASUS lists the RAM on their QVL list as supported RAMs under DDR4 3000. I'm not sure if they mean that the RAM in general has to work or if it has to work at its default spec (3000MHz in this case)

Unless they specifically mentioned any other speed, it should work on 3000.
