How to make sure my router is secure ?

Hi, I am using Dlink Dir 600 L.
Current Firmware Version :2.04
Current Firmware Date : Tue 15 Oct 2013

I checked but didnt find any new firmware. I am not asking about WiFi security. I wanna know is there is a way to know if this router is still capable of providing WAN security. Is there a way to find out ?

the firmware is 4 years old

iirc, there is a newer on the dlink forum, but outside that

i have that router and put dd-wrt on it and stopped using the original firmware many years ago

to see how secure your router is now, there is a page called shields up

if you see more than 2 bad ressults, fails, you need to change settings or change to dd-wrt

that or buy a newer router, but not a low end like this one or a 615, a high end model form another company, linksys, something like that
