personally I am very into PC gaming and a good experience with that too. I have a decent PC with lets say 'not the best internet speed/router' now its not that bad i cant play games, i can but just the most times my ping rises above 150 +. I have gone to the solution of cleaning out my PC's dust and dirt, and because i use a power adapter for my Ethernet i have also switched that out to a wall socket instead of an extension which i found out was bad thing. Not forgetting i have a family using the internet router too! These have made minor adjustments to my gaming experience, but i was looking for quick remedies that would solve this or help my internet / ping lower it self. I'm not looking to spend money or directly connect my Ethernet to the router as that is not possible at the moment. But if you have quick easy solutions then that would be hugely appreciated thank you, Sam

You do not need a real lot of internet capacity but a game does not tolerate not getting what it needs. If it does it when only you is using the internet you might have a problem with the connection to your house. If the problem is other people in your house usage causing a issue then you pretty much need to get a agreement that they do not use the internet when you want to play games.
Thank you for your time but unfortunately the case if the same when they are not. I was playing games the other night when people had gone to bed and it still spikes up. I have changed DNS servers hoping that would work. I'm not sure what to do, and playing games now has become tiring purely of because not being able to play them properly
Your internet connection may have a problem. Run a constant ping to 8.8.8.8 and see if you get a corresponding delay in that one. You can also ping your router itself to show the ISP that the problem is not in your house.
This is so sad the number of people that talk about "ping" and do not even know how to use the command. Look the command up it is simplistic.

It is true people talk about ping, RAM amount, GFX cards, motherboards and the rest of a PC without KNOWING the how and why behind each piece of hardware, the software side of things and can't build a computer either. That is one of the reason Tom's forum is here. If our answer was Google it Tom's wouldn't be around that long.
