I have an ssd in my laptop and i want to use it in a desktop pc build

I have windows 10
If i format my ssd and install it as the only memory in new system will it work out of the box or will i need to install windows 10 again in it?
I have seen videos saying that

you cannot just throw a drive in a nother computer and expect windows to work with it since everything in the new computer is completely different? you will have to do a clean install of windows and make sure you have a valid windows licence as you cannot use the windows licence you had with your laptop
