Currently, i have a 4 gb single stick ram in my motherboard, which has only 1 slot. Should I buy another 8 gb or 4 gb ?
Mostly, i will be gaming but i see some games recommend 12 gb?
So, is 12 gb worth the hassale and the money or should i just get another 4gb?
Thanks in advance

4gb is minimum

8gb is good

16gb is most you will probably need for the forseable future

only 1 slot free?

if so get another 4gb stick that matches what you have

You mean 1 free slot, surely? I don't know of any motherboard which literally has a single RAM slot.

For a mid-range gaming rig 8GB is fine. If you wanna stream or do stuff in the background, or set yourself up for the future, 16GB could be argued for... but that would involve ditching your current 4GB DIMM.

I'm with @maxalge - get another 4GB DIMM, as closely matched to your current one as you can.
RAM prices are high right now too. Maybe in 18 months or so things settle down and you can grab a 2x8GB kit.
