Hi i have a nightblade system mini itx with 350w psu b85i mobo 16gb memory and i7 4790k and 1050ti. Everything at this set up all works fine however i wanted to upgrade the gpu so i bought evga g3 850w psu. I had to mod my case slightly to accommodate the wires i got it all in and connected but when i turn pc on fans on case and cpu spin for half a second then stop. i also have a light on after this on the gpu but it does have a 6pin power connecter on it. I have cleaned everything and added new paste to heatsink still same so i put the 350w back in and everything works is the evga faulty or is my system just not compatible.
Ive only ever bought 2 evga items including this psu and if it is the psu then that’s 2 faulty evga items I have had to return

EVGAs OEM is a great PSU manufacturer and most of the units test out very well. But based upon user reports, there does seem toi be some variability between units. The fan on my son's G2-1000 was the loudest thing in his PC and he had nine 140mm fans ... I searched around and reports of this issue were not widespread, but certainly not uncommon ... the PSU eventually bit the dust and the replacement was just as loud. My thoughts on EVGA...

GFX Cards ... the Classified and FTW have been quality products, but the SC was no better than a reference model noted for poor VRMs and inadequate PCB cooling. The FTW in the 10xx series had the same problems as the SC. No opinion on the ICX versions as yet.

MoBos ... Only thing I can say here...

MoBos ... Only thing I can say here is that nothing about any one of them stood out in a way to make the purchase attractive.

PSUs ... Great pricing for the budget minded with the B2 series which had as good a performance per dollar than any PSU product I can think of outside Antec's CP series. The G2, P2 and T2 series were certainly top tier... not always competing with the best of the best but stood up well against those very well due to more attractive pricing. Over last 3 years or so, prolly put them in more builds than any other brand ...tho there have been a few bad apples among the bunch.

Id suggest calling EVGA tech support and having them walk you thru troubleshooting procedure.... if can't be resolved, they will do an RMA.

I've already filled out the amazon returns slip I will be getting a corsair sf600 instead as it's smaller than my 350w psu lol and will add additional space in my case and five me an extra 40 quid in my pocket. It's just a shame because I still like evga
