So i do home networking by my self, ive been doing it my whole life, and usually fixing issues related to PC's and networks isnt so hard for me.

Now listen to this. I havent touched my laptop for about 2 weeks, last time i used it, i used the wifi, and it worked just fine.

Decide to hook it up to my old monitor that i replaced with a new one (it does run thorugh hdmi). Wifi doesnt work. It just wont even connect. Spend HOURS trying to get it to connect. I unplug it from the monitor, hook it up to the LAN cable from my desktop, and voila wifi works. Unplug from lan, browse the web with different browsers (and different access points as i have 2), no issues. Plug it into the monitor, close the lid, and want to use only the monitor, wifi stops working. Connected, internet access, internet doesnt work. Troubleshooting gives me an error that it has a gateway connection but no internet...okay? it says i have internet right there, okay might be a glitch and for real it should be showing the yellow exclamation point...

Spend another hour trying to figure it out. It now connects to my access points but will not get internet. Unplug from monitor, hook it up to lan, SAME THING, works like a charm. Unlplug from lan, reboot PC, Laptop, and both access points...internet works just fine, ready to go. Plug it into my monitor and wifi breaks again.

There is no freaking way in the world this HDMI cable is breaking the wifi, or that my lid closed turns it off (because im using high performance mode with the lid having no effect on the laptop).

Any ideas? ive reset the network adaptor, ive reset all network settings in windows 10, ive run through all ipv4/6 prots, tcp, dhcp, made sure gateway ip is correct, renamed gateway with a new name and password...ive tried restoring back ups from registry, rolling back network adapter drivers, you name it, i tried it, flushed all records of network id's and ip's...

What is going on!

Lid closed, no internet (but wifi connected)
Lid open, internet works.

But i already changed the power management settings in favor of keeping the internet active. High performance plan, selective suspend off, lid cannot turn off wifi adapter, no powersavings what so ever either...this is supposed to keep it running right? nope...#win10suckssobadcomparedtowin7

It should keep everything running as it would with the lid open, but clearly that's not the case.

Take a look in the power settings for your Wifi (Device Manager>Wireless Adapter) and see if there are any power settings that need to be modified.

I'm on my work computer (W7), so can't check any relevant settings.

I made sure that the the adapter cannot be turned off by windows in the power management settings but i cannot enable "allow this device to wake the computer" as it is grayed out (im sure this would do the trick but cant seem to find a way to check the box).
