The scythe Mugen 5 slaughters the 212 performance, I don't even know why people a recommending the 212 for this budget. It vastly outperforms a cryorig h7 as well. Another alternative is the Thermalright macho direct.

I recommended it because I've used the 212 personally...But none of those other ones. I'm dubious of recommending coolers I haven't used as that has burned me in the past. DON'T go off reviews until you've used one personally. The 212 EVO is cheap, and has worked for millions and millions of rigs just fine. It provides plenty of performance for what you need it for, up to and including some OCing. If someone wants to tout the latest thing, let them, but having used one I can suggest it.

'Cheapest' isn't what OP is looking for when asking for "'best' cooler under $55".
If you're going for cheap, you may as well go for the M9i, which is cheaper than the evo, slightly better performing, better ram clearance/smaller, and better aesthetics IMO.
