I have an Asus ROG Strix 1080 Ti OC and it requires 2 x 8 pin power connectors.

I have the EVGA P2 650W PSU which came with 2 x VGA power leads, both have 1 x 8 pin and 1 x 6 pin.

To run this card off a single power cable from my PSU can i use the 6 pin to 8 ping adaptor to convert the 6 pin plug into an 8 pin, so i have 2 8 pin from one power cable?

Hope that makes sense? at the moment i'm using 2 x power cables and disregarding the 6 pins on both cables and powering it with the 8 pins.

Ideally i want to power the GPU with 1 power cable.

Even if your PSU comes with 2 8-Pin plugs on each cable, it's best to use 2 power cables in order to avoid overloading one cable, especially if you want to overclock the GPU. Those single cables setups work better if you want to use on 8-Pin and one 6-Pin. Using both 8-Pins at the same time may cause some issues. That said your PSU is pretty good and uses quality components. Also the 1080 Ti under normal conditions won't use 100% of those 8-Pin plugs. So if each cable does have 2 8-Pin plugs (6 Pins with 2 extra add-on Pins in each plug), you can still use just one cable without worrying much. Good luck.
