Hi, guys.
I was planing to by a Ryzen 1700 and pair it with Asrock X370 Taichi, which on Amazon would cost me 330 Euro for the CPU and 350 for the mobo (680 in total).
But the other option is to go for a 1800X and a cheaper mobo like Asrock Fatal1ty X370 Gaming K4. This combination goes for around 510 for the CPU and 160 for the board (670 in total).

Which one do you think is the better option?

Get the Ryzen 7 1700 and Aorus X370 Gaming K7 or the Asrock Taichi or the Crosshair VI, depending on which is cheaper, because these boarda are purty solid for OCing and the 1700 comes with the Wraith Spire heatsink, so you dont have...

I was in the same boat and went with 1700+Asus Crosshair VI Hero (originally wanted the Asrock Taichi but no stock here).
Mainly because here in Canada the 1700 is around $430 and the 1800X is 660, for me it was a no brainer as I'll be overclocking the 1700, hopefully I can get it to 4.0Ghz, i've read that most people with good water cooling could reach 3.9-4.0.

This way I was able to get a nice high end board, normally I go middle of the road, was looking at the Asus X370 Prime for a bit less but I thought this time around I'll splurge a bit more.

Honestly, if the 100-200mhz difference is worth it to you and the board has everything you need then either way you go would be ok. I just think if you are going to go all out with an 1800X you may as well get the best board possible to get the most our of your overclock and extra features to boot.

Before I start suggesting, may I know what the rig is going to be mainly used for?

3D graphics with mostly DAZ Studio and zBrush. I use Iray, which is a GPU based rendered (I have TITAN Xp and 980Ti). Some clothing simulation with Marvelous Designer is something I plan to add to the workflow as well.
I use Photoshop often, but just for a light postwork.
And gaming of course, but I'm upgrading mostly for work. I can max out everything (at 3440x1440) with the TITAN and my current 4790K anyway.

Make sure you get Ryzen compatible RAM modules for optimal performance since Ryzen loves higher speed memory.
