Hi all, I've encountered this problem, although very rarely, that I run a game let's say Witcher 2 and it runs buttery smooth (above 60fps all the time) then after a certain time of playing it freezes for like 2 seconds and there's a little bit of artifacts and it works again however it runs at like 20fps. Even when I alt tab and go back into program it's still the same.

I have R9 290x +50mhz
i5 4690k 4.4ghz
650w psu
8gb ram

if your getting artifices then turn off the overclock. also keep an eye on your temps.

if your above 60 fps then turn on vsnc and save some electricity and the game will run more consistently.
as your not trying to squeeze every fps out of the system the whole build will run cooler and quieter.

yeah i know jayztwocents, LTT, paul and kyle all say overclock the Beelzebub out your gpu its free performance... truth is, its not.
your increasing power draw to get the gpu, just to calculate more fps than your screen can show, and your system has to work harder as a whole to keep up.
fact is mate overclocking for the most part is pointless to the general user/gamer unless you need that extra grunt to get to a consistent 60 then turn it off...

your games will also look better, because you dont get things like banding when firing the Gatling gun in battlefield for instance.
