Solution
if you mic and match timings you cause the mmu(memory managment unit in the cpu) to work harder which uses more power, produces more heat.
if it has to work 2 hard it will over heat and start causing crashes. 1s this happens your cpu is broken permanently...

this process takes a bit of time but eventually it can happen (say 6-24 months depending). more often than not though its the ram that breaks first.
it will just become more and more unstable till eventually the pc will refuse to boot.

so if you have no choice but to mix and match try to get the same make, model and timings.. the more exact you are with timings the less stress on the mmu.
save up and get another stick of the balistix if thats all you can afford. i found them to be pretty consistent when buying odd sticks.

mixing ram with differing speeds and timings will likely cause issues at some point. it will either add excessive stress to the mmu and cause it to break or
the ram itself will break due to running outside of spec, as you will have to mix and match timings to get it to run.

Okay, but why is that? Can you explain a little more in depth? And how do you match the timing?
