What CPU to buy? Also, will my current build throttle it?

I'd like to upgrade to a new CPU. I've been thinking definitely i7, and potentially the 4790k or 6700k. I can get both for around £290.
It will be mainly for editing purposes.

My questions are;
-Is there a better alternative for similar or less money? (Around £300)
-Will I need to upgrade anything else in my build to accommodate the increased CPU performance?

Thanks for any answers

Solution

Its not overclockable like the 4790k (but you dont have a Z series motherboard anyway), and it doesnt have a built in GPU (which doesnt matter as you have a graphics card).

Very good cpus for the money.

Also you cannot use the 6700k as its a different socket.

I would also suggest getting another 8gb ram stick so you have dual channel RAM (double the ram bandwidth).

For the RAM upgrade, I heard a while back that it helps to get the exact same model for dual channel..is this true?

Yeah if possible get the exact same stick as you currently have.
