Wi-Fi download locked at low speed + Drop Outs

For the past 3 weeks my ADSL2+ internet has been stuck at a max of 250 kb/s download speed (normally its somewhere from 500-750 kb/s which is considered good here), and also drops out from time to time.

My setup is a modem connected to a WiFi extended, and then to a USB adapter thats connected to my PC (sounds horrible but its the best I can do in this current setup). My USB adapter was getting old and was starting to fail itself so I bought a new one with the same specifications, yet I'm still getting the same issues. I really don't know if its something on my end, or an ISP issue.

I should note that being close to the modem on a laptop is fine with no issues, and when I am actually connected on my PC online gaming has no issues connection wise (despite the dropouts).

Thanks

  1. the speeds you mention, sounds liek you are having 2 megabits conenction

what is the supposed speed offered by your isp? 5 megabits?

to discard the wifi as a issue you must connect to a cable directly and do speed tests
