I currently use a GTX 980 with an i7 4770k cpu. I mainly use this setup for gaming with NVidia Surround at 5760x1080 resolution. I have a 4th monitor in use also for a browser while I play in windowed mode. I was curious, now that the GTX 1080ti has been out for a bit, does anyone know if it bottlenecks the i7 4770k from over clocking? I usually stay around 4.2. Does anyone recommend upgrading my cpu also? I was under the impression that for games, the CPU isn't as important. I was hoping that my current cpu will be enough. Thanks for the feedback in advanced!

Definitely enough. Any i7 desktop chip above the 3770K will be fine with the GTX 1080 Ti (there will be a little holding back, but you it will not be noticeable).
