Problem with Antec Khuler 1250

Hey guys,

I've been running a Antec Khuler 1250 in my system for well over a year now and for the most part have had no problems. I never really payed much attention to the initial fan settings or monitored the temps of the CPU being that the cooling system has a nice led housing that I can see to visualize if I have high temps or not.

As of late I tried to upgrade my ram to 32 gig and after jumping into bios to check my Ram settings, I noticed my CPU temp was rising up and sitting around 80c or higher in bios after a few minutes. I look over to the LED on the chipset itself and its Dark red, so I shutdown and give it a few minutes before jumping back into bios to investigate.

Upon powering up, the Fans for the radiator on the Khuler system spin up, so they are indeed getting power. Once into BIOS though, the fans never turn on to help bring the Temp. back down, I can only hear the pump running. I've tried playing with fan settings in the bios in both auto and manual and I can't seem to see or get a response from the fans whatsoever. The strange thing I've noticed is once I fully boot up into windows, the pump alone can bring the Temps. back down to 45c Idle alone with no usage of the fans. (I do have 2 large fans in the back for case cooling that are constantly on, tied directly into the power supply, not tied into cpu fan or sys fan on the MB).

My Khuler unit has a USB cable, tied into a USB Pin Port on the MB. It also has a CPU PWR line that I have tied into one of the two CPU Fan Pin Ports on the MB. (I've tried both ports with the same result). The unit also has, two CPU Fan cables, each with a short double series connector. I can connect the two radiator fans on the cooling unit to those. I have 2 fans on the cooling unit although via the cables it can support upto 4. I've tried every possible configuration with those, all with the same results.

I just cant seem to get any fan control or response in bios or in windows using the Grid Software used by Antec for this model of Khuler cooling. If I plug either of the radiator fans directly into CPU Fan 1 or 2, I can run them fine and can get a response in bios and run the fan in manual. As for the two cables labled To FAN, that each have a daisy chained series connector, one of the fans needs to be attached to that cable or the pump stops running which makes zero sense to me.

As a temp fix, I have one fan connect via that cable to keep the pump running and the second Fan tied into Fan 2 on the MB rather than the daisy chained connector, currently running manual at Max RPM to try and help cool the Radiator.

TBH, it seems to run fairly ok under a standard gaming load with or without the Radiator fan and by just using the Pump alone. According to the Temp monitoring software, it's stable at about 80-85c but I honestly don't like it running that hot and the bright RED Led on the unit bothers me.

I'm about out of ideas and debating whether or not I should scrounge up some cash and get another cooling unit. Problem is, I'm not 100% sure my issue is with the cooling unit or something else with my MB maybe?

Anyhow, I'm open to any ideas or suggestions as to troubleshoot a bit more. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Nevermind, just went out and took a chance on a new cooling system as I am impatient when my rig is down, and things are much better now. 32c at idle and 55c with a decent load.
