Dear community,

I'd like to receive some comments on the build I've chosen and am planning to buy. Here are the parts:

  • ■ CPU INTEL CORE I5-7600 KABY LAKE LGA 1151 3.5GHZ 6MB CACHE, BX80677I57600
    ■ COOLER THERMALTAKE RIING SILENT 12 120MM LED RED, CL-P022-AL12RE-A
    ■ Motherboard MSI Z270-A PRO, LGA 1151 CHIPSET INTEL Z270
    ■ Memory CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX BLACK 8GB (1X8) 2400MHZ DDR4, CMK8GX4M1A2400C14 (x2 for dual channel - the target total is 16GB)
    ■ Video Card MSI GEFORCE GTX 1060 6GT OCV1 GDDR5 192-BIT
    ■ SSD INTEL 600P SERIES 128GB M.2 80MM PCIE 3.0 X4, SSDPEKKW128G7X1
    ■ HDD SEAGATE 1TB BARRACUDA 3,5" 7200 RPM, 64MB CACHE, SATA III, ST1000DM010 (x3 for RAID 5)
    ■ Case CORSAIR CARBIDE SERIES 270R, CC-9011106-WW (or maybe a basic Mastercase 5 from Cooler Master or the NZXT H440 or Noctis 450)
    ■ Case Fan CORSAIR HD120 RGB COM CONTROLADOR LED RGB 120MM, CO-9050066-WW (x2 - the target is to put three on the front panel and one on the back panel)
    ■ PSU CORSAIR RMX SERIES MODULAR, RM650X, 650 WATTS 80 PLUS GOLD, CP-9020091-WW

The idea is to have a SSD as the first drive (Windows and Office install) and 3x 1TB HDD in a RAID 5 setup.

The RAM cards are to be used in dual channel.

Overclock is not required, dual GPU either.

The idea is to have the computer as fast and as silent as possible for Windows, Office and Internet browsing and watching videos and listening to music, for a medium priced machine.

The kind of advice I am looking for is whether I am spending unwisely here, if there is some bootleneck that I am not noticing (for my lack of knowledge).

Thanks.

PS: Following is the "form" from the sticky post about asking advice.

Approximate Purchase Date:
Probably within the next 30 days

Budget Range:
Not exactly applicable, since I am from Brazil, and I can't buy from newegg and the such

System Usage from Most to Least Important:
Will be using Windows
Browsing the internet
Lots of Office working
Some gaming, nothing too current (maybe games launched two years ago or before). Huge resolutions and high quality are not a high-priority requirement
Some video watching in HD
File and Picture management
Maybe some light video editing (amateur youtube channel)

Are you buying a monitor:
Probably not

Parts to Upgrade: (e.g.: CPU, mobo, RAM)
Everything - new Build

Do you need to buy OS:
No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
http://www.pichau.com.br

Location:
Brazil

Parts Preferences:
CPU Intel
GPU NVidia

Overclocking:
No

SLI or Crossfire:
Maybe after 4 or 5 years if that pays

Your Monitor Resolution:
Currently, 1680x1050. Maybe I'd like to go up.

Additional Comments:
No need to beauty, fancy leds, cool looks, etc.
Quiet and silence very important
Not too expensive

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:
Current computer is sluggish for the current workload.

Solution
1) for proper dual channel, buy paired memory, not two individual sticks.
2) No need to get Z270 with the non-overclocking 7600. Either jump to the 7600K for overclocking, or step back to a B250 board
3) the 650W PSU is overkill. a 500W will be plenty
4) right now, the RX 580 is a better buy than the 1060

@ScrewySqrl:

My online vendor does not have currently a 2x8GB memory set.

Should I go for a single 16GB memory card, or should I risk having two separate 8GB (same brand and model) RAM cards?

Regarding chipset, B250 is better than Z170?

Regarding GPU, instead of the RX 580, would the 1050 be reasonable to buy?

Thank you for your help so far!
