I need help getting my headset to work. I recently switched hard drives. My old hard drive had windows 10 and everything worked great, this one has windows 7 and I can't seem to get anything to work. I have realtek audio drivers installed but I'm not quite sure how to get everything working properly. On my old setup the realtek speakers were always set as the default playback device and everything worked great, now my headset (Astro A40's) is set as the default device, well the mix amp is. When its like this they are surround sound, instead of stereo and I can't stand it. All the my music sounds weird, I cant hear anything in games and I just don't like it at all. Currently now if I set the realtek speakers to default playback device, I can't hear anything.

Any suggestions?

In Windows, bring up your Playback devices and look for one labeled something like "Digital Output (Optical)" and one labeled as "Speakers - Astro USB Mixamp". For each one, right-click to show the "Properties" and look for an "Enhancements" tab. Make sure all enhancements are disabled and apply the changes.
