At this time i believe that the rx480 is superior to the 1060 because of the better compatibility with dx 12/vulcan titles.Disclaimer:I'm not an amd fanboy and i would love to mindlessly pick 1060.But i'm afraid that when the next nvidia is going to release their next series ,the 1050/60/70/80;) drivers might be left behind for dx 12 titles. Please i need your opinion on this point because i'm tight in budget and time.Thank you.

RX480 did not win in all DX12 tittles. there are several games that GTX1060 either on par or even faster than RX480. CIV 6 is one such example where 1060 end up being faster than RX480 in DX12. even for Vulkan AMD is not consistently ahead as well. in Doom case AMD cards end up very fast in Vulkan because they were using specific hardware capabilities that did not exist on nvidia GPU. but it doesn't mean every other Vulkan based game will going to take advantage of this hardware. take priciple of talos for example. in DX11 the game actually faster on AMD GPU. but the situation is changes once running on Vulkan.

and nvidia for their part also keep...
once new product coming out it is normal for the new product to get more attention when it comes to optimization. this is true for both AMD and nvidia. in case of DX12 the issues is more about how to properly use the raw performance on available hardware. nvidia for their part already a very good job even at DX11. take RX480 vs GTX1060 for example. that is 5.1tflops vs 3.85ftlops. and yet in DX11 games GTX1060 either perform on the same level or even better than RX480 despite raw performance wise it should have less than RX480.

Yes,it's a fact that 1060 is better slightly better than the rx480 in dx11,but what about dx12/vulcan where the rx480 is ahead?if more titles of this API come out in the future then we have a winner and it's from the res corner

and nvidia for their part also keep improving their DX12 and Vulkan performance. your concern is if older card will get neglected in the future. then you can look here:

if you look at Doom numbers you will see 980ti has lessen it's gap performance with Fury X in the new benchmark.
