My specs :
Z97-a mboard with i7 4790k
R9 270x gpu and 8gb ddr3 of ram.

I was thinking of getting an upgrade since i havent done so in a while,
Was thinking of going with a gtx 1xxx series either a 1070 or a 1080ti.
But im open to suggestions, my budget right now is around 1000 dollars.
Also i will upgrade around Christmas so Vega will probably be out by then but if you guys think the rest of my rig needs work then thats what i will do.

Well GPU is by far the best option since your CPU is still very powerful for Gaming to today's standards. I would also consider upgrading to 16GB RAM as plenty of games are starting to benefit performance from it.

For the Graphics Card, it depends what you are trying to achieve. What Power Supply do you have? and what Resolution is your monitor?

This is what i would recommend based on Resolution (but it also depends what Power Supply you have atm)

1080p 60Hz > RX 580 8GB
1080p 120+ Hz / 1440p 60Hz > GTX 1070
1440p 120+ Hz > GTX 1080
4K > GTX 1080 Ti

Vega will hopefully be a powerful lineup but they might be a few months off yet so it depends how long you want to wait. Hope this helps :)

Yes i was thinking of upgrading to 16gb of ram but havent seen any perfomance tests that show a good fps boost, got a link?
For resolution i unfortunately have to use a tv since no space in japan for a desktop. For now its 1080p but im thinking of getting a 4k tv soon.
Power supply is there a way to check without opening the case? I figured since its powering up the r9 270x it would be enough for an upgrade.
