Asus TUF Z270 Mark1 MOBO
Intel i-5 7600k CPU
Asus GeForce 1060 Strix GPU
G.Skill Tridentz RGB 16 GB DDR4-2400 RAM
Coolermaster Hyper T4 CPU cooler
EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750 PSU
NZXT Phantom 410 case (Mid)

I have a program that was installed as a part of my MOBO install called "AI Suite 3 Thermal Radar 2+", which is an Asus program. It shows my CPU temperature fairly high. 49-60 when idle and light programs, bumps up to 60-75 when doing system scans, and 65-87 when playing games. (All celsius).

I'm wondering if this program is wrong, which I would assume it isn't since it came with the motherboard from the manufacturer or if my CPU fan is really that bad. It was brand new.

Also, maybe i need more thermal paste between? I put on too much at first and it was leaking into the "green area" outside of where it should have so i removed it and reapplied less.

Any ideas are welcome, thanks!

Can u go to Asus suite and set settings to default and disable it to start up with windows. Then go to Bios and set all settings to default (F5 for Asus) and measure temperature again. Just to make sure u havent accidentally tweaked anything wrong.
Btw i suggest using Bios for all tweaks, i have tried ai suite like 4 months ago and it worked fine for me, but some people have trouble...

Download this one http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html, and check temperatures again, and post screenshot with idle/load all values in here. U should use around 4-5mm pea size dot in the middle for skylake/kabylake.

There are a few things which may have caused this issue. It may be thermal paste(like you said, it does make a difference ), it could be your cooler. I've heard the hyper T4 isn't good enough for oc, but it should be enough for a 7600k running at stock speeds. Or it could be your program. One very good place to check is the BIOS, which monitors your cpu temperature, speed, fan speed and other things.

If all doesn't work, then get a program called CPU-Z. It's a very good program for monitoring temps and speeds. It's pretty reliable, many people use it in their benchmarks.

Here's the screenshots for this program, idle and load. Looks like even higher with load ...

When i booted up and ran BIOS it showed 47 degrees C for my cpu temp. Then booting up with the HWMonitor i saw 85-100C which settled back down to 75C. My AI Suite 3 showed about 6-9 degrees less than the HWMonitor

Then if your temperature is still high on stock settings u should check if you mounted your cooler properly. Once you remove your cooler check how did thermal paste spread out, if it too much use less if too little use more, i use around pea size 4-5mm not more.
Check out this video on T4 installation and tim application, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyebTZp4hoo
Your cooler should handle 4.5GHZ for sure but dont go any further, at least under 90C... Something is wrong

I removed the cooler, tightened the brackets, removed the paste + reapplied, then reinstalled the cooler and i'm seeing much better temps! I think the fan was slightly loose as when i started removing it it was shifting a little
