8gb ram question

Hello there,
I am well aware that lowering the games' settings reduces the amount of VRAM used when graphic cards are concerned,but does the general RAM consumption reduce too?
I am aware that 8gb is not enough in some new games but does reducing quality make 8gb ram adequate?

Most all games only require 8GB's but will require more IO requests from drive to memory. It will slow your games a good number of games. CSGO for example allow you to load more of the maps. This is why I upgrade my system with a 16GB kit. My performance before was back and forth between 50~100+ FPS. After the upgrade it stays 100+ FPS with very smooth game play. Settings didn't help much at all.
