If you using it for 1080p a 1070 will be way more than you need unless it is 144hz. Neither card is that good for 4k and if you are not planning on running that resolution for a few years you would probably bet better off saying some money with the 1070 then upgrading if/when you get a new monitor.
What resolution and refresh rate are you using it for? If you need the extra power any 1080 is going to be better than even the highest factory overclocked 1070.

Right now, I am only looking to play games in 1920x1080. But I am thinking maybe in a year or so 1920x1080 might become a thing of the past and 1440p and 4K will be the norm. That is the reason I am looking at GTX 1080s. I was wordering whether MSI GTX 1080 Armor OC's increase in performance compared to MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X is enough to justify its higher price tag?
