Hi,
I want to upgrade my memory and i honestly just thought i could just put any ddr3 in but after doing bit of reading it seems not.
I currently have 8gb I make music and when have a big project it lags especially when i load a kontakt player

I'm going to be honest i'm more confused then ever ha
I was just wondering if anyone could recommend what kind of upgrade i should have

I was looking at these not sure if its best 12gb or will 16gb would work or just go for 24 or have types that's compatible with my motherboard

I do apologize i am definitely a newbie but help would really be appreciated

You're limited to 4GB per slot. So buying 16GB would not work unless you want to run them in single channel which is not really recommended for optimal performance. I suppose you could drop in another 4GB but not sure how much that would help. Just make sure the stick matches the other two.

Thanks krzyimprt

so would you say get 6x 4gb for 24gb
does the speed matter? would i be right to assume i have to use 2200, 1333, 1066 or 800 MHz memory modules

I'm not too familiar with x58 and the ram speeds. 1600 should do, if not it will drop down to 1333. You'll be paying a hefty price tag for a 24GB kit. I'm seeing $160ish for a used kit on eBay and that's just for 1333.
