I had to get a motherboard because my old one broke down. I installed eveyrthing according to the manual. When I press the power button, the LED light comes on an the fans start spinning. But nothing comes on screen.

I hope this isn't a DOA motherboard. Not only have I already gone long enough without being able to access my desktop, but on top of that, the ebay merchanted specifically stated that he had tested the motherboard and confirmed it was working! I'd be more inclined to believe that a brand new component might be DOA than an item the merchant has specifically, personally, and manually tested.

I can't take it to a local shop right now for diagnostics since none of them are open on weekends. What can I do to troubleshoot?

Solution
What's the rest of the system components mate ??

BTW - there's no such board as a 970 ud3h, theres 970 ud3 & ud3p (amd boards ) & a couple of 97 ud3h (Intel boards)

You mean #1 on this diagram?

Well, I plugged in the 2x2 plug that my PSU came with. There's still a 2x2 area on that socket that doesn't have anything plugged in. The PSU doesn't have another 2x2 plug, nor does it have a 2x4 plug.

However, this is the exact same PSU I've been using for about three years now. Just a month ago, I was using another Gigabyte GA-970a-UD3P and it was working fine. In fact, I specifically bought another motherboard of the same model number so I wouldn't have to reinstall my OS.

So, having it only half plugged in can't be the problem, since I had that for a long time now and it didn't matter.

You need both 4+4 pin atx 12v plugs filled mate ,that's a 125 CPU , that board requires 8 pin atx 12v for that.
I have no idea why it was working on a previous board the same in all honesty.

Are you sure your PSU hasn't crapped out & is unable to supply the required power ??

Any psu that only has a single 4 pin eps is low quality, low wattage, very old or a combination of all three.
