I require Internet access from Archer C5 (setup as Access Point) via Dlink-254 - Dlink-655 - modem

Despite trying several options at the C5 end I am unable to get access to Internet
(I only want it to get the C5 time correct automatically - I can do it manually but it resets after any reboot)

One thing I have tried is to mimic the 254 settings, but the C5 will not let me use the same gateway (as specified on the 254) as it is on the same subnet as the C5.

Does anyone have any way forward to suggest,
Even if it turns out I have already tried, I appreciate your input and it may highlight some aspect I have missed.
I would be entirely happy if I could just find some means of automatically setting the time. The 655 is willing to get the time from a computer on the LAN, but not the C5!

Thanks

By default, the C5 is looking to its WAN port for the NTP server, but since the WAN port is unused in an AP configuration, it's unable to find the server.

On the C5, check the system routing table under "Advanced Routing". There should be an entry for
Destination IP 0.0.0.0
Subnet mask 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway (your gateway IP)

You may be able to add a static route for this, but I'm unsure if the C5 will allow this.

Another option is to run your own NTP service on your LAN, and configure the C5 to use that NTP's IP address for time sync.
The 655 is willing to get the time from a computer on the LAN, but not the C5!
But from this statement I'm unsure if you already may be doing this.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my problem and giving me your input.
First of all a minor apology: I could have given more information on my original post, but I was not sure what would be relevant, or that anyone would be free to look at it.
I do not know "how" the 655 could get its time from the LAN (currently it uses the Internet), but it is in the UI. Maybe it's expecting an NTP server on the PC, but there isn't one.
I did previously look at the option of using a static route, but it seemed to me (I admit I may have been wrong) to be relevant only to a single destination address and not to the Internet at large.
I have just now set a route for 13.79.239.69 (time.windows.com as used by my Windows PCs) and the C5 has (finally!) got the time from the internet.
I still do not know who how to give the C5 general access to the Internet, but I now have no pressing need to do so.
But still, I am baffled that there seems to be no straight forward way to access the Internet from the C5 in my setup.
For now, I will leave this problem open in case anyone else, maybe even me!, comes across the solution to the more general problem.
If nothing else turns up within a couple of weeks I will mark, subject to any administrative rules of the forum, the problem as solved.
Once again, thanks for your help.
