My current specs:
AMD FX 6300 OC 4.2

GTX 960 4GB

8GB RAM DDR3

Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX MOBO

Im planning to upgrade my current GPU but just wondering how significant the bottleneck will be.

Thanks :)

At 4.2ghz you'll be fine with an rx 570 , been running mine with a 970 (virtually identical performance) for 3 years now

Just dont expect 60fps all the time , little trick with fx processors , set your desktop to 50htz , in game then you'll get a 50fps vsync lock & that GPU will be more comfortable at a constant 50fps than 60fps with drops.
Stuff like mafia 3 & GTA v can get to mid 40's fps wise , that's an unnoticeable drop at 50htz as opposed to 60htz.

Yes it will bottleneck in some modern games at 1080p resolution. The FX 6300 is already quite old, but considering its multithreaded performance it could probably last a year or more. Then maybe you can upgrade to Ryzen.
For now, shoot for a higher OC. 4.6-4.7 GHz at 1.45V is good. Get a water cooler and OC that to 4.8-5.0. Then you can reuse the water cooler for Ryzen/Kaby Lake/Cannonlake
