Hey, i have an annoying problem that's been pestering me for a long time. No matter how many times I've formatted my desktop computer these USB devices always seem to come up, so I've concluded that it must be a hardware issue. I have no idea what they are, I don't have any components that I'm aware of that could correspond to them. How do i find out what they are?

Thanks in advance!

Solution

I find it hard to believe. :)
Check one more time - all connected USB devices and pc case also (it might have card reader integrated into it).

What's the model name of your pc case?

Not that i know of, no. I just removed a redundant USB 1.0/firewire component from my motherboard hoping for the flash devices to disappear, but they didn't. I also went over the motherboard manual and checked whether there could be any old leftover parts but there weren't.

Is there anyway to find out more about the devices through windows? Like which port they are connected to, or anything that would give more details.

I just checked and there's definitely no card readers to be found. I have no idea about the case as my computer was bought assembled in 2008. The motherboard's P5Q-E though. The devices persist even though I've unplugged everything, could they have something to do with one of my USB slots being broken? I don't know how that would become to be, but it's the only thing left that i can think of :\

Just in case if you were to recognize the case here's a picture: http://i.imgur.com/c8BrQRU.jpg?1

Edit: Oh okay, there actually IS an integrated memory card reader on my computer in the floppy disk drive, that explains it!
Thanks for the help SkyNetRising!
