reliability 5tb portable external hdd

Solution
The data from BACKBLAZE indicates that larger drives are pretty reliable. I would go with WD or Seagate, safe eject the drive when disconnecting, and NEVER knock it over or drop it while running and you should get plenty of life out of a new drive.

Also, never trust just a single drive as your backup. Anything really important needs plenty of backup. It's very sad to see a user lose 10 years of family photos because they trusted one drive.
