Hi everyone!

I got a HP Pavilion p6-2481eo: https://support.hp.com/id-en/product/hp-pavilion-p6-2400-desktop-pc-series/5330783/document/c03651191/

The graphic card (NVIDIA Geforce GT 620) is pretty bad for newer games like Battlefield 1 and many other games. I wonder if I can invest in this graphic card www.amazon.co.uk/Zotac-GeForce-1050Ti-Mini-Graphics/dp/B01M8M5T4T/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492968621&sr=8-1&keywords=ZOTAC+GeForce+GTX+1050+Ti+mini/url and at the same time invest in a new PSU that can handle this graphic card? Is that possible for my computer?

What do you think?

Thanks for the answer!
Is that PSU good, do you have any other examples of PSUs I can buy?

As a funny thing I noticed, the GT 620 looks like it might even be slower than the integrated graphics built into that AMD processor...

http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GeForce-GT-620-vs-AMD-Radeon-HD-7560D/m8899vsm8826

It might be interesting to see if you get faster performance than you're getting just by unplugging the graphics card and plugging your monitor into the ports on the motherboard. I'm not sure why HP would put such a low-end graphics card in there, when the onboard graphics might be better. : P

Of course, neither of them will be anywhere near as fast as a modern graphics card like a 1050 Ti. While it's true that 300 watts is a little low for a system with a dedicated card, the 1050 Ti does not draw a lot of power. It tops out at around 70 watts of power draw under load. Your existing PSU would probably work well enough for it. The GT 620 that's already in your system also recommends at least a 300 watt power supply (though I believe it only draws around 30 watts under load).

Its one of the best in the price range. Antecs Earthwatt are know to work a decade by most. I have 2 myself and both are fine. Antec's earthwatt 380 can handle the 1060 if needed as tomshardware has had the PSU in builds with the old GTX 460 that pulls 150W.

For about $20 more this one is very good and can handle any single current gen video card.

Very interesting answer about the AMD processor, I didn't have a clue about that.. But now I know! So you believe that I can buy the 1050 ti straight away without worrying about my current PSU? Is there any risk?

I notice you picked a mini card, I'd take a look inside your case and see what kind of space you're working with. Maybe a full size card would be fine, maybe you'll new a low profile card(not as high), or maybe that mini(tall, but not as long). By the way, the 620 is not a gaming card in any sense of the word. It's for people who don't have usable integrated graphics, I have no idea why HP included that when your APU has decent integrated graphics built-in.

Also, make sure your bios is up to date. HP and other companies usually make it easy to update the bios, but you'll want your motherboard as up to date as possible. Finally, you have an AMD APU. It's not bad as such, but it is not as powerful as a non APU CPU would be. This won't matter in games that don't use a lot of CPU power, but unfortunately Battlefield 1 is a very CPU hungry game. In that game you can expect videocard performance to be less than most benchmarks with a 1050 Ti, due to your APU holding it back.

Tbh I would still get a newer psu just to be safe as the hp psu's are more often than not in those cheaper desktops quite crap.

So is there any possible way to upgrade my CPU, to a better one?

If you start swapping out the CPU chances are you're going to need to swap the mobo and RAM too, which means a new Operating System install/purchase. It would definitely be worth upgrading to a Skylake/Kaby Lake/Ryzen CPU if you have the time and money to do the full swap of all the parts.

Hello again!

3 months later (after saving some money) i've bought the Zotac Geforce GTX 1050 ti 4gb mini and I've ordered the Antec EarthWatts Green 380W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX as PSU as you said. I guess my CPU won't manage to run the newest games as Playerunknown's battleground and Battlefield 1 at high resolution or at all, am I right? So I wonder if it's possible for me to buy a new motherboard and a new CPU for my HP pavilion p6-2481eo case? And also is there something else that I miss?

Here is a nice low cost upgrade. If your willing to go for a higher budget you could get a 6 core Ryzen for 320 that can handle anything like a champ..

Thank you elbert!

Lets see, so you mean this http://pcpartpicker.com/product/mV98TW/amd-ryzen-5-1600-32ghz-6-core-processor-yd1600bbaebox and will the PSU I just ordered handle all this?

Yes the PSU can handle just about all CPU's. It the video cards you mostly have to wory about with power supplies. It can handle upto a 1060 and any CPU combo in reason. Any but the X299 and X399 CPU's.

Do you got any other memory card recommendation? Can't find that card in Sweden.

Want to mention that, this motherboard will not fit into my case. So probably I will need to buy a whole new case also.

Here I changed motherboard. I was thinking there was a slot or 2 below the mother in your case. The ASRock has 4 DIMMS so just go ahead and get the 2 sticks for dual channel.
