i am currently running a dell with MS Vista and it had an ATI Radeon Vid Card that died and a friend gifted me a AMD Radeon R7 240m card.
it picks up the Audio portion but will not recognize the Vid portion.
any ideas????

Try ddu software, it is the best. Download the drivers from the AMD site as they are constantly updated and probably newer than those of the provided cd.
P.S. Vista is a nightmare!

One thing to check, after you install the card, boot into the motherboard bios, not Windows. You want to look in probably 'advanced' and 'chipset' depending what type of bios you have. What you're looking for is the section where it lists your graphics, either a videocard or integrated graphics. Your 240 should show up there as being detected. If there is no card listed in the 'pci-express' slot, that means your computer isn't detecting the card at all.

With respect, that's misleading.

My BIOS doesn't actually show what's in the motherboard's PCIe slot, but my PCIe Radeon graphics card is detected in Windows & works perfectly fine.

What info is shown in the BIOS for the expansion slots varies by BIOS make & version.
