I was playing Diablo II and Starcraft (which is free now) and I ran into some odd connection issues and did the typical restart of my computer and router. Pretty much when you join a game people can use hack programs to get your IP, and when you're on the server it messes with your connection. I just want to know how to change my IP to get around this problem, and it helps I'm using Windows 7.

Everything else works fine, I can watch movies and download without any issues until I open up one of those games.

There is a huge difference between free VPN and ones you pay for. You get bandwidth caps and/or massive amounts of advertising spam crammed into your browser. There are many very good paid ones in the $5/month range. I would hope that a extra $5 is going to be worth avoiding the hassle of the idiots that live on the internet.

Mostly, you can't.
Your public IP address is given to you by your ISP.
If you turn your modem OFF for a few days, it will probably obtain a new one when it connects. But I'm guessing you don't want to be offline for a few days.

Yeah I figured that was a possibility, I couldn't get it to change when I unplugged it a few times during the week before bed and woke up with the same IP. Calling my ISP is a waste of time in my area, I've tried it before and they just give you the runaround then tell you to flush your DNS. So I'm kinda at a stalemate here.

If I find a decent free one I'll give it a try, I don't want to pay for a service for games that are that old. No wonder those games were more popular back in the dial-up ages. Thanks for the reply tho, it saves me the trouble from looking up more solutions knowing that you can't manually change your IP, plus I have way better games to play around with.
