New Ryzen 5 1600X build, no signal to monitor; is it because of RAM?

Hi all, I have just built the following system:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600X
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-AB350M-HD3 (rev. 1.0) AM4 AMD B350
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory Model
SSD: Kingston A400 2.5" 120GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9x65 SE-AM4 premium-grade low-profile CPU cooler
No GPU.
Case (with built in 300 W power supply): In Win BL641 SFF mATX Slim case with IP-S300FF1-0 H Haswell Ready power supply
Monitor: HP 22ER Frameless Silver/White 21.5" 14ms (GTG) IPS Widescreen LED Monitors, HDMI 1920 x 1080 60Hz

After putting it all together, it powers up fine, the mobo lights up, CPU fan and system fan run, etc. I get one beep from the motherboard speaker I installed, as the GA-AB350M-HD3 manual says I should. There is no signal to monitor, unfortunately.

I went through the checklist here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems (are there any newer versions of this?). Ran into no issues, and nothing I've tried (resetting CMOS, using different monitors) seems to work. If I try to start without the RAM stick in, I simply don't get any beep.

This is my 4th PC build, but I have never run into this issue (no signal to monitor) before. And I don't know much about what the new Ryzen CPUs and associated motherboards have issues with. Some things I'm thinking:

1) The RAM is incompatible. If this were the case, would it still beep once but not show anything on the monitor? (Looking at the GIGABYTE GA-AB350M-HD3 memory compatibility list, I cannot find the Ripjaws V Series DDR4 3000 RAM, so the RAM is not compatible. I just didn't think this would show up as no monitor signal...
2) The motherboard onboard video doesn't work, and I actually need a video card. I didn't think this would be the case, and I thought I could just plug directly into the GIGABYTE GA-AB350M-HD3 motherboard as it's suppose to have onboard video.
3) The power supply is not strong enough. The Newegg calculator suggests 383 W, while it's only a 300W PSU. I'm not sure why this would manifest solely as "the monitor doesn't get a signal" though.
4) Some other issue I'm not thinking of.

Before I buy new RAM or a GPU, I would deeply appreciate any help for a relative newbie and a Ryzen newbie. Thank you very much!

Well the current PSU can only deliver a max of 240w where it counts(the 12v rail) and uses low quality capacitors so it's life span is not going to be good. That bestec unit is also very low quality and I wouldn't recommend it. I'd go for one of these https://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/Cnzv6h,sFjG3C/ either of those would be fine with a gpu that doesn't require extra power. It's not just about size, quality is a big concern when it comes to power supplies.

If I had to point fingers it's not the RAM or the motherboard. It's the PSU. That junk built-in 300W PSU is not providing enough amperage to power the motherboard. So what you should really be looking at is your power supply before you consider buying anything else. Also, the 1600X has no GPU. You will need to get one at some point to make that system work.

It because there is no GPU installed. The 1600X has no igpu. The ports on the motherboard only function if you install an APU(which aren't available yet) as the motherboard does not have an igpu built in. Also that PSU will likely be an issue when picking a GPU as it fairly weak.

Thanks, this was my suspicion. As I'm building this system mainly for CPU work, I'd try to get a very low power graphics card - perhaps a GeForce GT 710. Using the calculator at http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator suggests my PSU should be 238 W. Should I listen to this? Would I still need to worry about the PSU with a video card like that? Or should I definitely move to get a bigger power supply (like this 420 W one: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA85V3GR3047&ignorebbr=1)

Thank you for your help!

That's one of the least accurate PSU wattage calculators on the internet. Most are. They don't take into account real world PSU draw, they really only take into account PSU draw based on design specs. The one on PC Part Picker is probably the most accurate I've seen but even that doesn't really come close.

I had this problem when i first booted up my Ryzen 5 build. It said no signal. I put my windows usb in every slot and nothing. Then I just gave up and sat down. 5 min later it just popped up on the screen. And i used g.skill ram also and not the amd kind.

You most likely had a gpu installed aswell.
