hi, ive recently just built a brand new gaming pc with
-intel i5 7400
-gtx 1060
-8gb ddr4
and a asrock b250M pro mboard
the problem i have is that it restarts randomly when playing games. ive downloaded a software called CAM to monitor the temps inside and it says the cpu is running at around 36 degrees C and the gpu is running at around 46 degrees C on load. ive almost had enough with it because i cannot find a solution. ive found in my computers settings an option to stop the computer from restarting when theres a malfunction but im worried that it could damage my computer in some way. would this actually damage my computer if so is there an alternate solution.

what is your power supply brand and model?
it sounds like a psu problem to me. but you can also try memtest to make sure your ram dimm sticks are still good.
how clean is the inside of your computer? I mean dust wise. dust on fans?
your temperature is fine by the way.
there are too many reasons it could be restarting to give you the answer weather or not it is ok, but in most cases you don't have to worry about other parts being damaged.

you can try looking in event viewer and telling us what it says during a shutoff. it will log the date and time. if you are using windows 10 just search Event Viewer in start menu. Then, Windows Logs>System.

ive checked the event viewer as you've said and have found a critical that states "the system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. the error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed or lost power unexpectedly

everything is brand new in my build and I did it in a clean environment, I don't think dust is a problem but I don't want to rule anything out. i got my power supply from here http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/500W-Smart-Silent-Cooling-Fan-ATX-Computer-Power-Supply-For-Intel-i7-AMD-CPU-/192134840107?hash=item2cbc20ff2b:g:rBcAAOSwuxFYz607 is it possible for you to send a link to the test

try directly plugging your monitor and tower into the wall with nothing else. could be factors like how your house is wired, how much you have connected to one socket, what type of surge protector you are using.

if that doesnt work, it does sound like a psu issue. That psu you linked is garbage, new or not.

I was on a budget but I can get a return, I will do what you suggested

if you can return that, do it. even if you have to pay for the return. don't buy cheap no brand chinese stuff to power your brand new expensive parts. too many people make that mistake. thats like buying dollar store batteries for a pace maker.

currently I'm restricted to shopping express, ple computers amazon and ebay. its out of stock on amazon and the others sell them for over my budget. are there any alternatives and is there a way to confirm that it is my power supply.
I know that it is most likely a power supply problem but I honestly dont want to wait a whole week to get my power supply and have it restart on me again

ive tried using a wall plug but it still restarted after a while. it only seems to restart when everything is on load, why would this be

To be able to sell a PSU at that low of a price it was designed and built with the minimal and least cost components that compromise stability and reliability. Some of the critical protection circuits will also have been left out.

Have you monitored your system voltages to see if they are staying within ATX12V specifications?

if you are uncomfortable with the toms's list you can go onto jonnyguru.com. it is a specialty psu review site and should review up to date models for your liking.
no promises on prices and speed of delivery though. The purpose of the toms list for me is to find brand and model series. e.g. if majority of tier one is by seasonic/evga superflower, then I'd know to get those models and thing would probably work out. like Corsair AX series or Seasonic Prime, or eVGA g2/g3 IF I only see evga g2 750 watt on the list, and amazon only have evga g2 850w, I know it would probably be a good psu. Does that make sense?
